Devon & Cornwall
Discover Devon & Cornwall
Devon and Cornwall are two of the loveliest counties in Britain. Endlessly inspiring and surprising to discover on foot, or by bike, and with a distinctive West country culture – and accent! – unlike anywhere else in the UK.
For centuries, Devon and Cornwall ran things ‘their own way’, speaking their own distinctive Cornish language, proud of their fierce sense of local identity and independence. The Cornish still sing the same sea shanties that the Pilgrim Fathers did. And tell the legend of the Beast of Bodmin that inspired Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes. Still roaming the moors, by the way…
The landscapes and rugged coastlines have their own distinctive feel too, from the windswept tors and moors of Dartmoor and Exmoor to the sandy coves and coastlines of Cornwall. Not surprisingly, these are the counties of highwaymen, smugglers and shamans.
Our Devon & Cornwall Itineraries
Our guided and self-guided walking and cycling tours are led by local guides who know every inch of Cornwall and Devon like the back of their hand. From Altarnun to Zennor.
Hike the stunning South West Coast Path, explore the headlands and bays that inspired Poldark, bike the winding Devon lanes and romantic villages where the village shop still closes on Wednesdays.
Visit Port Isaac, and Mevagissey, or discover the Lost Gardens of Heligan (not actually ‘lost’, just not on most people’s radar) to the Bronze Age Scorhill stone circle. Less well known than its famous cousin, Stonehenge but, we think, far more mystical.
